The Stranger's Baby novel Chapter 1

Melissa couldn’t stop smiling as she sat at the back of the taxi, looking outside the window, at nothing in particular, as she was engrossed with her beautiful thoughts. Today was Zion’s birthday and she was heading over to his place to surprise him. Mel had no idea why she felt so excited as though it was her birthday.

After what felt like a forever journey, Melissa arrived at her destination. She paid the taxi man and got down with three gift bags. She made her way into Zion’s apartment building and took the elevator up to his floor.

She brought out a key from her purse, unlocked the door, and helped herself in.

Hardly had Mel taken five steps into Zion’s apartment when she heard noises. She stopped in her tracks, the smile on her face slowly fading away. It wasn’t just any noise but sounds of moans and grunts.

Melissa unconsciously let go of all three gift bags, letting them fall to the floor. They were filled with gifts for her boyfriend. She had even ordered some food and cake which should be delivered anytime soon.

Melissa shook her head, convincing herself that she heard wrongly or better still, that Zion was watching porn to ease himself and that was where the noise was coming from.

She took further steps into the apartment and came face to face with an empty living room. This time around, the noises were even clearer, hard enough to believe that it was from some device.

Tired of allowing her thoughts to mess with her mind, Mel took close steps towards Zion’s room. She slowly connected her hand to the door and opened it.

She froze!

Her boyfriend of three years was on top of another woman, having the time of their lives. The duo were so engrossed with their pleasure that they had no idea that someone had walked in on them.

“Oh, yes, baby. Give it to me.” The feminine voice came through and Melissa’s world fell apart at the familiarity of the voice.

Trying so hard to hold back her tears, she took off one leg of her sneakers and threw it at Zion, hitting him on the back.

In fear, he stopped thrusting into the lady that was under him, and looked behind. He cursed silently, coming down from the babe he was fucking upon sighting Melissa.

That was when she saw her clearly. Zion was fucking her best friend, Kimberly. To top it all Kimberly was smirking at her.

Melissa took off her other leg of sneakers and threw it at her. Unfortunately, Kim dogged it.

“How dare you both??!!” She said at the top of her voice. She promised she wasn’t going to shed any tears but she couldn’t help it. She felt so much pain in her heart.

“Hi hi..hey.. excuse me.”

“Damn!!!” Damien cursed as the door to the elevator got shut in his face. He pressed the button continuously a couple of times hoping the door was going to open but it didn’t.

“Fuck!” He cursed, going back to face Betty who looked scared and confused as to what was going on.

“What the hell happened?” He asked her again.

“I don’t know. I was rushing, she was rushing and we hit each other. It wasn’t on purpose.”

“I’ve told you to always stay careful but you never listen to me.”

“What’s going on? Do you know her before?”

“Do I need to know her before I spot what's wrong?”

“Come on, it was a mistake and I apologized but you seem even more angry than the victim.”

“Why am I even here talking to you?” Damien made his way back to the ground floor reception.

“Good Morning, Sir.” The receptionist instantly rose to her feet the moment Damien approached her desk.

“A lady just walked in. Black dress, black blazer, honey blond hair that stops almost at the waist. She should be 5’6 and has beautiful blue eyes. Does she work here?” Damien asked at a go.

The receptionist’s eyes went wide.

“I...I’m not sure, Sir and this company is so big that I don’t know everybody one on one.”

“Also there are lots of new faces in the building today because we are having interviews for five different positions today and a lot of people applied for the role.”

“I need the CCTV footage of this reception,” Damien said and took a glance at his watch. “Everything that transpired here up to the elevator section in the last 15 minutes. I also need the database of everyone present for this interview. I need all these in the next ten minutes.”

“Consider it done sir.” She said, going straight to work.

Melissa ignored Damien's question. She stretched her hand to take the pizza from him but he moved it farther from her reach.

"What do you mean by Gina on my bed?" He asked again.

Melissa rolled her eyes, wondering why he was making her voice out everything when the truth was really obvious.

"I know she's your woman. Or should I say fuck body?"

"Why would you think I'm fucking her?"

"Can you just pass me the pizza? I'm tired of being interrogated. Why are you even here? Didn't you both plan to visit the club?"

Damien ignored her question. "Why do you think I have something to do with Gina?"

"Isn't it obvious? She is all over you. She calls you by your first name. Look at her outfit. She was literally fucking you in front of me. God knows what you both really do behind closed doors. Please tell me the doors are soundproof. I really don't want to hear you both all night long."

With his gaze totally fixed on her, Damien took a step forward, closer to Melissa.

"Is that what you think about me? That I sleep with everyone?"

"Please don't get me wrong. We are all adults and we can do whatever we like. I'm not here judging you for your actions. So you can just ignore me."

"Trust me, I don't care what people tend to say about me. But I worry more about what you think about me."

"Why?" She asked.

Dam ignored her question and asked. "Do you really think I have a thing with Gina?"

Melissa sighed, trying to tear her eyes away from his chest.

"Please go put some clothes on."

Dam looked down at his chest, then back at Mel. "You've seen more than this. I'm sure it's nothing to you."

She shook her head. "I don't want Gina to come over and think I am whoring with you. I really don't want her drama anymore."

Damien frowned. "Is she disturbing you?"
