'There was nothing more ironic than sitting alone at a wide marble table facing a pile of leftovers, while your husband was having fun with his lover on the day of your 6th wedding anniversary.'

Amara's heart was weeping. Amara felt her heart cold as the food before her at this moment. She once believed her husband would at least remember his duty on this special day, but it shattered as she received the photos from her private investigator.

He and his mistress were having a candle dinner beside the floor-to-ceiling window. Having the woman in his arms, he had a doting smile on his face.

During the entire 6 years of their marriage, Tobias had never for once shown her that soft smile of his. He always treated her with a cold and serious expression. I knew our marriage had not begun with love, but a contract. However, from the first moment I met him as a teenager, he took my heart.

Tobias William Larsen, a household name in this country. In addition to his excellent look, his intelligent brain made him even more charming. Countless women dreamed of a sweet romance with the perfect heir of Labyrinth yet he married young. And what fascinated the women even more was that he was also a devoted husband. Since his marriage to that mysterious wife, he never had a single scandal. Which woman wouldn't want such a man?

But only Amara knew what the truth was. Their marriage was just an adornment to his good name. He needed a stable marriage to build a trustful image to the outside, however, when they were alone together, he wouldn't bother to give her one more glance. She never owned his caring, talk less his love. Tobias' love was only left for that woman.

The woman in the photo and his first love, Celestine.

And that's what broke Amara. No matter how much she had sacrificed for him, he could feel no love for her. Yet all it took was a smile or a tear from Celestine and he would return to her, regardless of how deeply she had hurt him six years ago.

Zooming the photo, Amara tried to search for even a hint of guilt on his face but failed again. Amara knew their marriage would face challenges since Gustavo, Tobias' grandfather, passed away, but she didn't expect it to be so soon. Tobias couldn't wait to get his first love back, even if it would be a blow to his hard-earned reputation.

[How does it feel to be left alone on your wedding anniversary?]

Suddenly, she received an unfamiliar text message on her cell phone, and from the long-lost and mean tone, Amara didn't have to think to recognize it was from Celestine.

[You thought you had won after your pathetic tricks forcing Tobias to leave me, now the old man has gone and no one will be on your side! Let's wait and see, Amara. Your good days are at an end!]

[Cherish your last moment as Mrs. Larsen, for it will soon belong to me!]

Gritting her teeth, Amara could imagine what a smug expression over on Celestine's face there. How could that b*tch twist the truth so shamelessly? She never forced Tobias to break up with Celestine and it was Celestine herself who abandoned Tobias for a large amount of fortune. She failed Gustavo's test yet blamed all this on her now! How dare her?

Amara still remembered what Gustavo told her on his deathbed. The old man wanted her to guard his grandson, to hold on to this marriage. Amara didn't know what Gustavo had seen on her but until the last moment, he still believed that Amara was the only one who could bring Tobias happiness. It was hard for Amara to say no to this kind old man. Gustavo was only the one who treated Amara right in the Larsen family and if he hadn't provided her with a place to stay, Amara would hardly have survived to the day she reunited with her family.

His Ex-wife Is An Heiress novel Chapter 8

"…All the claims and accusations made towards me in recent post are all lies and acts of defamation. I hope you all, as my valued fans, can ignore the malicious and unprofessional claims and continue to support my acting going forward. Thank you all for understanding."

The next morning, Melanie who was reading this scoffed loudly, disgusted at how innocent and noble Celestine sounded, when in reality, she was blacker than a freaking chalk board.

"This is all bullshit." Turning her attention away from her laptop, she face Amara who was reading through some files sent by her grandfather. A quick tip up before she began leading the company. "How can she so innocently lie to those people? She's the definition of a black sheep. If anyone here is innocent, it's you, Amara."

Amara who had been too engrossed in her own work, didn't pay attention to what Melanie was saying, rather, she nodded her head in agreement.

Only when the papers were snatched out of her hand, did her work attention vanish.

"Are you even listening to me?" Melanie questioned, clearly worried about her best friend. "That bitch is out there playing innocent. She even got Labyrinth to stand for her. Look," In a second, she had retrieved her laptop from the coffee table and nearly shoved it in Amara's face. "They've issued a statement and have promised to take swift action."

Amara studied the screen for a short moment before asking. "So?" Pushing the laptop away, she turned towards her open own laptop and saw that the photo she had been exporting was complete.

Melanie understood where her calmness was coming from when she saw the picture of Tobias and Celestine together. The latter had his hand around her shoulder, comforting her from whatever, while Celestine shamelessly leaned into his chest ogling his biceps without a care in the world that he was a married man.

"Be it Labyrinth or even the president," She clicked the upload button and in seconds, the rather suggestive photo along with the post she had created, was uploaded. "No one will be able to save her, especially not my soon to be ex husband."

The two fell silent after that and Amara with a smile on her lips, watched as the number of attraction grew higher and higher by each passing second.

Now, Tobias, let's see how you handle this one without ruining your image of the perfect man.

She chuckled. "If you want to make my life hard, I can make yours a living hell. So, let's see who comes out of this the victor."

Just as those words left her mouth, the sound of her phone ringing besides her, reached her ear.

She glanced at the device and smiled upon seeing the familiar name of one of her closest.

"Just the person I'm waiting for." She mused as she picked the phone up and answered it, pressing it to her ear with all confidence that she knew how the phone call was going to play out.

His Ex-wife Is An Heiress novel Chapter 15

Life without Tobias was almost unimaginable to Amara. In the past, when Giselle threatened to make Tobias divorce her, she would always cower because of the threat, one time even going as far as wiping Giselle's foot and begging her, all because she fear a life without Tobias. But now that she and Tobias were no longer husband and wife, now that their marriage was truly and legally terminated, she realized that life without Tobias was in fact not that bad.

Instead, it was great, better than she had expected. There was no one to degrade or disgrace her and she didn't need to work all day, dolling herself up to look pretty in hopes of grabbing the attention of a husband who would barely even look her way when he returned home.

Although, Life without Tobias was strange at first, but a month into said life, she got used to it. She became accustomed to living without him, without anyone there to bother her or criticize her or control her. She had her own free will and could finally take the first step towards bettering her life without being judged.

And that was exactly what she did. A few days after the divorce was finalized, Amara fully began preparing to take over the position of branch manager.

With the help of Lorenzo, she studied the company's ways for an entire month, waiting for the right time to make her appearance out of the shadows and that opportunity so happened to present itself sooner rather than later.

"A party at Hilton Metropole?" Amara had asked as she examined the luxurious looking invites.

Lorenzo had nodded. "It's your opportunity to socialize, gain footing in the business world before taking over, you know, just to let people get used to the idea of you." He suggested and Amara bought into the idea.

Currently, 2 hours until said party, she stood in front of her mirror, examining the gown she had chosen for the event. It was a long sleeved, form fitting black dress with a slit running down the left side.

The neckline wasn't too low and showed off her delicate shoulders while the sleeves made the outfit elegant. She had a pair of black high heeled shoes that went along perfectly with her outfit and her hair had been done in an elegant bun with a few strands hanging loose.

To make sure her makeup wasn't too over the top, she had opted to go with a natural look. She applied a little bit of eyeliner and a light pink lipstick.

All in all, she looked like the perfect version of a female CEO.

The sound of two gentle knocks on her door had her looking away from her reflection.

"Lorenzo is here." Melanie stated and moved aside, allowing said male to make his appearance.

"Hey," He greeted. "You ready?"

Amara smiled, picking up her bag and phone. "Yep," She replied and turned to Melanie. "I might be home late, Mel, don't wait up for me."

"Sure thing. Have fun out there." Melanie placed a chaste kiss on her cheek, giving Lorenzo one last look before she sauntered out of the room, chewing on the gummy bears she had picked out of the fridge.

"Shall we?" Lorenzo asked, extending his arm for his sister.

With a nod, she took it. "Let's go."
